Go With the Flow
since it's been decided on and since it has been done.. dun fret and just see how things unfold while hoping for the best but don't expect the worse, since that does not even wanna sink in..
take a deep breath, the calming words are music to the ears.. just let the melody drift those churning thoughts away..

Stepping Out
onboard a cruise liner for the first time in ten over years and into a casino. aunties, uncles and cousins were always talking abt their time spent here. though previously i had been once into a casino at Genting, i never tried my luck.
into a room of high rollers.. of wads of 50 dollar notes spread across the green table lawns where the cool uncle/ auntie stood waiting in exchange for their tokens. the smallest bet was SGD 25. we just stood there looking at the game but we didnt plunge into it.. at least for a night.. the next day, he decided to try. beginners' luck for us both as we analysed through the monitors on what were the previous stats and made our bets. after a few +s and then -s, we put in our last bet of this short 15min timeframe and it was a positive balance! my heart was pounding, and like my other girl friend onboard, i think we'd have heart attacks.. i am too risk adverse to take such risks but it was still fun nonetheless! and then it was night of celebration with cream and cakes though sadly the ship doesnt allow for candles.
and the week after, due to an event held at Turf City, it was another night of bets. being in the VIP group and standing in front of the throngs of punters and the common crowd, i was in awe. i didnt realise that these kinda events drew such a large crowd and that so many people were interested in betting on horses. perhaps i'm sheltered from such happenings, but to me, it was an eye-opener and i am glad to have been exposed to this. there is much analysis to be done on the jockeys and the performance of the horses. these animals were groomed well and they looked real beautiful. the entertainment of those taitais dressed to their nines (and most likely with a large hat perched on top for day events), with their tuxuedo-clad partners on their arm, unless there is an event in this faraway place, i dun think i'd drive all the way there.
but, wow! 2 different places with a similar yet distinct feel. 1 of a smoke-filled room with money laid on the table in full view of others comprising of aunties and uncles, and in another, a nicely furnished room with a buffet spread and a full view of the races, with money changing hands at the counter, comprising of ladies and gentlemen dressed elegantly.
interesting.

Under the Microscope
of laces.. of ribbons.. of colours.. of crystals.. of flowers.. of ribbons.. of sizes.. of details.. of style.. of design.. of flair.. of elegance.. of planning.. of locations.. of research.. of deciding.. of shopping!
overseas shopping! everywhere is H1N1 now, so i think it's so common that it doesn't bother me, but of course that is the wrong mentality. sighz.. wear a mask, wash hands, but still enjoy the shopping nonetheless aye?

And as You Breathe
you just take in the sounds of the waves splashing against the shore
the rustling of the leaves
people whizzing by in their blades and bikes
the sounds of children's excited laughter
the smell of barbeque food which fills your senses
but still, i'm happy running along by on a Saturday evening
after completing a small bout of shopping and confirming the trip which i've been looking forward to for more than a year. nothing big, but still excited w my dearest girl on hand.
it's just a month away from now =]

Make Yourself Comfy
and i'll go in search of that latte which is oh-so-soothing as i sink into the cushions..
and while he buries himself in his course books, i'm burying my head in story books. revived the old hobby of reading, but while this interest has evolved from high school love stories like Sweet Valley High to romance novels, it is now that of autobiographies. it's not like those of successful politicians or entrepreneurs, but more of those who survived the horrors in their childhood but overcame the obstacles to come out in the open and tell a story of their own.
the first book that got me hooked was The Child Called It introduced by Von some years back and i was in search of more. along the way, fiction books by Jodi Picoult became my fave and while i still think her books are a draw cos she tackles some of the most difficult decisions people make, i am now back to the 'incredible true stories of abuse and survival' which is the slogan on this package of 3 books i bought at a steal from Borders. finished them a few days ago and was looking forward to Ling passing me one of her fave books but we were so happy shopping tt after i reached home then i realised tt i'm missing something =/ *poof* i think she's got some good recommendations and since our libraries here ain't tt well stocked, i might channel some of my money which was to be spent on clothes, to that of books then! ha.. i shall see how strong is the urge to own those books *grinz*

Tell me bedtime stories..
tell me fairytales..
sing me nursery rhymes..
sing me a lullaby..
so that i can sleep soundly
without fears, without tears..
