Just Around the Corner

these 2 girls have gotta be the most adorable and most entertaining peeps who really crack me up! thought it'd be nice to have a girls' night out without the guys around so i suggested going to Robertson Quay since it looked like a really nice place but i havent eaten there before. the walk from clarke quay over was pretty dangerous cos i made the girls cross the road without realising that there was a barrier that prevented us from reaching the sidewalk. *oops* and knowing that Ren already has a phobia of crossing roads with me, this didn't help *double oops* pai seh!

there was quite a wide variety of choices but finally settled on this small Italian restaurant, Mondo Mio Singapore. was the right decision cos firstly, the food served was really good! tried a different pizza unlike any other which was shaped like a huge curry puff, the prawn spaghetti with a cream base had a tinge of white wine which made it fragrant and a grilled chicken nicely done. one of the staff, presumably Italian and a partner of the place, made our dinner more interesting by chatting with us and we exchanged some friendly banter. the other partner of the restaurant also provided eye candy for Ren though me and HM thought he really wasn't all that amazing.. but, his poise and confidence really exudes a certain charming aspect. (shall give u credit girl =p)
.
thinking that i had done my research, i wanted to bring the girls to Ricciotti, which i thought was at Robertson Walk but was in fact at the Riverwalk. luckily for us, Canele Patirsserie was located just around the corner and we headed over for tea and desserts! *slurps* our taitai - ASK - unclassified lifestyle as our colleague terms us. the cakes there look lovely and the choc lovers excl me happily chose their faves while i settled for sth non chocoloately which turned out to be some custard pie that didn't taste that fantastic but still tasted good. oh well, we didnt finish 'em up cos we were super fullll!

so the next activity was to digest our food. *burps* oops! nice area just to walk leisurely while we talk and take in the sights. is it only me or that i'm seeing many more bridges built to impress? perhaps it's cos i've never been to these places.. but now i have! yay! exploring new places =]

and cos it was a saturday, we wanted to chill out late so we searched for a bar which would suit our timings and finally just settled for Harry's. initially didnt feel like drinking since my stomach was already bloated but decided to share with HM a cocktail which she thought tasted like medicine so it was all for me while they drank beer. and u shd see Ren's face before and after she sipped the Heineken. super funny! haha.. but she continued drinking tho she didn't really like the bitter taste. mine was pretty sweet so i quite liked it till the alcohol effect took place a while later and as usual, i grew all red and felt a bit tipsy.. lucky for me and all of us, we were driven home safely =] (cute drawing by me! =p)

it was an eventful yet sinful day but i loved it nonetheless! another round coming up this weekend! *beams*

Turning the Pages

As you turn each page, will it just be letters formed into words or do you see pictures that conjure feelings that are indescrible through words?
When a next chapter begins, are you cynical knowing what to expect or do you wait in anticipation while the mystery unravels?
While the story unfolds, do you wish that the ending is what you have predicted or that there would no ending at all?

As the days go by, does each day feel longer than the previous or is it too short for you to enjoy?
When you go round a bend, will you continue to make a roundabout turn back or are you sure of your directions going forward?
While reaching out, are you aimlessly trying to grab hold of something or will another hand reach out to link through yours?

hold on tight. i hope it is the latter for all.

Put Them On

did some shopping and bought some essential items for the trip and training. or rather, i had to go hunting for these stuff. i finally settled on a pair of hiking boots from Hi-Tec. sheesh.. i know it's the lowest end of the lot in comparison to Columbia, Cat and Timberland, but since i ain't certain if i'll be climbing another mountain, i'd rather just spend the minimal to ensure my safety in completing the journey. i just hope these boots don't give way on my climb or cause me any discomfort *bites fingernails* but i'd sure as hell don't mind getting a good pair if any more ppl are interested in mountain climbing! pls jio me then!
also managed to hunt down my intended running shoes @ Queensway which i managed to save $55 from the main Asics store. uber happy when the boss quoted me the price cos i was already expecting to pay 200+ for it. yay!
The prey => Asics Gel Evolution 3: Running shoe built for the excessive over-pronator who requires a combination of cushioning and reinforced stability. havent fully utilised it since the weather is always so threatening when i reach home from work. my1st ever pair of Asics after all these years which i'm more than happy to spend on, cos previous shoes were sponsored by my parents and they don't exactly spoil us in getting whatever we want. so it was mostly more affordable ones. yippe yay for this buy!

With Cherries on Top

indeed, been doing quite some food tasting so far =] wanna try out different foodstuff instead of always eating the same old stuff like those franchises etc. so the food aint exactly ex or tt i'm atas lo, the food is actually quite affordable!

it's like this place Xin and i came across just walking along Prinsep Street called Alps Cafe. there's 2 sections, one for dining and the other is the bar area which is separated by glass doors. the latter has it's temperature turned down to 12 degrees and they provide jackets etc, kinda like Eski Bar. we settled down for dinner at 8+ being the only ppl in the area, and thought we'd adjourn to another place to chill, but ended up staying all the way till we were the last customers at 2am! it's not like the other eating places tt u'd kinda be pressurized to leave the place cos there's others waiting, since this place is coupled with a bar, ppl started streaming in at 9+. moreover since the place wasn't packed to the brim, we decided to stay on and were quite lazy to leave our new found comfort zone in search of another. another fren joined us later on so we continued to stay there and ordered drinks. unknowingly, time passed really fast tt night.. guess tt's how it goes when u're with great company =]

also explored another unfamiliar territory: Labrador Park. the place looked really peaceful tucked away in a corner at the south of Singapore. had dinner @ the Olive where the price tag was a tad too high judging from the ambience (the kitchen was nearby), food quality (not bad) and service which i was not too happy with when the manager shouted to the service staff twice, "tell the customers we're closing! go tell the customers we're closing!" gosh.. in tt kinda environment with only 2 groups of ppl remaining, her voice was booming and we heard her loud and clear. as if we'd still stay after tt?! ugh.. but i loved the tiramisu which we got 1 for 1 cos of Citibank privileges. *YuMmy!*

the 2 places that i went has got Citi privileges! finally put the card to use. hehe.. i used to wonder why ppl would wanna spend more money on food when they could spend a smaller amount for good food at hawker centres, food courts etc. of course nonetheless, i still enjoy eating at the latter, but the special treats really perk me up! especially when i taste something tt's outta-this-world, gosh! my eyes just light up! haha..

other than that, my shopping expenses has gone down quite significantly. don't really have the mood for shopping. perhaps cos i'm more focussed on getting the equipment ready for Kili and thinking how much more money i'm required to spend on the trip makes me hold back buying anything that is not needed now. i guess the next big buy will be a pair of Asics shoes specially designed for flat footers like me. cos of the extra cushioning and maximum support designed on the inner sole of the feet, it costs quite ex. but since i've been running regularly and it has since become a hobby ever since i joined climbing, i guess this investment will be well worth it. all these years of just focussing on the outer design when i never knew i was flat foot till last mid year, could be quite damaging to my knees cos it's starting to hurt.. *sighz* oh well, so i hope this upcoming pair of shoes will help me lessen the pain and enable me to continue doing this form of exercise till i run my first half marathon / full marathon. hopefully i'll be able to accomplish them.. *cross fingers*

Share the Joy

attended Pam's ROM @ Grand Park Royal that Sunday too. the place looked really good and her efforts paid off since she especially spent alot of time planning on the flowers, the reception, the food etc.

and i was super excited when i saw the spread of the buffet. looked really really sumptuous! oooh, and not to mention the desserts! *droooools* i just go nuts when i see pretty, cute, lovely, yummy desserts all lined up waiting for me to gobble them down. haha.. not that exaggerated, but they all look super tempting. *slurps*

and i liked the time spent there talking to ppl whom i know so i felt at ease. hmmm.. but i guess to spend this much money on just the solemnization alone is pretty costly. think i'd rather save it up for the wedding dinner instead. but there are many ways of celebrating this special day of joy. bet Pam and Gab are enjoying themselves on their honeymoon! be blissful always!

Delights

it was a really nice way to start the long weekend with the nicest dinner i've had thus far @ Barnacles on Siloso Beach. the ambience gave a posh but relaxing feel. seated so close to waters with that slight breeze carressing skin and gentle waves cascading over the sand, coupled with the gastronomic and visual delights presented before us was just so ooh-la-la!

as we clinked our wine glasses and savoured the variety of white and red meat, the sauces that came with the dishes truly complimented the taste of the food. impeccable service, lovely setting, yummy-licious bites and not forgetting, spending it with the right company is vital to making the experience real good. prices for the main courses are reasonable but a tad steep, but definitely enough to make you feel happy and satisfied after the meal.

met up with the lovely 7somez whom i missed alot cos the auditors were all packed to the brim with endless work pouring in. and since our gathering had been delayed for far too long, i had to get them all together no matter how many turned up. but happily, all were present except for JH who was still caught up with work and Ling who is still in US but coming home real soon! don't worry you 2 ladies, you were still on our minds during the meal (see below)!

you girls were remembered with drawings by Tze and me, and Barney & Pooh bear! oh, forgot to mention that we went to Cherie's Pan @ Tan Quee Lan street. place looked nice on the outside, but we were wondering why it seemed pretty empty inside. nevertheless, we were attracted by the set dinner @ $19 nett. on the tables, there were these large white pieces of paper and crayons, so i cant remember if it was Tze or Yan tt started drawing, but the few of us caught onto it and started to flaunt our artistic talent! kinda reminiscing our childhood times so it was really fun! linked beside the restaurant was a daycare centre and they've got this mini playroom with colourful balls, soft toys etc. we didnt dare to stay on it for too long in case it collapsed if it couldn't withstand our weight. haha.. what's a girl's gathering without a whole lot of girls' talk?! and so after dinner, we proceeded on for part 2. yay! absolutely adore girls' talk so hopefully there'll be more girls present the next time round. Tze, it's gotta be before you leave, so better let us know! till next time~
